The latest of Google’s web Apps has recently gone live. This one aims to offer a web based Powerpoint like experience. It offers the traditional Google experience with a clean and functional interface. Anyone who has used Powerpoint should find themselves right at home. Download squad offers a quick comparison list between Google Presentation and MS Powerpoint.

What it does have or do

    * Importing PowerPoint files
* Exporting HTML file
* 15 built-in themes
* Text formatting
* Basic image manipulation functionality (adding, resizing)
* Versioning
* Collaboration
* Online presentation sharing

What it doesn’t have or do

    * Animations of any kind
* Advanced image manipulation
* Advanced text formatting
* Sound
* Video
* Exporting PowerPoint files

As you can see it has most of the basics and offers some nice collaboration features that I’ve used to great success with other Google docs. Google Presentation also offers the ability to do online presentations. Users will be emailed a link and you can then walk them through the presentation using a chat window. While no voice chat is currently supported it seems like a obvious feature that could be added in the future.

A oddly missing feature is the ability to save as a .ppt file, although they can be imported – the accuracy of the import varies by the complexity of the presentation.
