The World Without Us by Alan Weisman, discusses the impact that humans have had on the planet and what might happen if humans were suddenly removed.

While the book itself presents some interesting concepts, his website has a really neat flash diagram that highlights different stages that the planet will go through if humans suddenly vanished. Well worth a look.
