The right stuff
This very cool bit of NASA news popped up recently. NASA is apparently accepting astronaut applications! As expected a proper background is required, but it is not as stringent as one might think. A bachelors degree in engineering, science or math is required. Plus three years of experience of relevant professional experience.
The open positions require extensive travel on Earth and in space. Possible destinations may include, but are not limited to, Texas, Florida, California, Russia, Kazakhstan, the International Space Station and the moon.
Awesome.
I know NASA often gets bad publicly for various issues, but when you stop to think about what these people go out and do everyday it is still quite amazing. I only wish the the U.S. government would give them the funding they need to get the jobs done. Our shuttle fleet is very old and the International space station seems to have most of its kinks worked out. It seems like now is the time to push ahead with the next generation of space flight.
